The Launch Meeting of the Professional Committee on Autotrophic Microorganisms of the Chinese Society for Microbiology Held in Wuhan, Hubei

On December 11-12, 2024, the Launch Meeting of the Professional Committee on Autotrophic Microorganisms of the Chinese Society for Microbiology was held in Wuhan, Hubei.

The Professional Committee on Autotrophic Microorganisms of the Chinese Society for Microbiology was established in August 2024, relying on the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The committee is chaired by Zhao Jindong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as Honorary Director, and Researcher Zhang Chengcai from the Institute of Hydrobiology as Director. There are currently 30 committee members. Lu Yandu attended the meeting and was selected as a committee member.

At the meeting, Researcher Yang Haihua, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Society for Microbiology, introduced the brief history, current status, mission, and main work of the Chinese Society for Microbiology from multiple aspects. Zhang Chengcai elaborated on the original intention of establishing the Professional Committee on Autotrophic Microorganisms and its future work content, and organized the attending members to discuss the academic activity arrangements for 2025 and suggestions for relevant candidates for the professional committee.

In the academic report session, Zhao Jindong delivered an academic report titled "Light Energy Absorption, Transfer and Control of Phycobilisomes," and Researcher Zheng Yanning from the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a report titled "Environmental Signal Sensing by Photosynthetic Nitrogen-fixing Bacteria and Driven Methane Emission."
