
From November 17 to 20, 2023, the 9th Industry-University-Research Conference of the Microalgae Branch of China Algae Association, hosted by the China Algae Association and East China University of Science and Technology, was grandly held in Baoshan City, Yunnan Province. The conference was attended by more than 400 representatives from over 60 universities, 20 research institutes, 70 enterprises, and multiple investment institutions across the country. Led by Associate Professor Xin Yi, doctoral students Ma Jingxue and Song Chanyuan, and master's student Cui Xinyu delivered academic presentations.
Associate Professor Xin Yi gave a thematic report on "Rational Design of Triacylglycerides in Marine Nannochloropsis."

Doctoral students Ma Jingxue and Song Chanyuan, and master's student Cui Xinyu gave presentations at the sub-forums titled "Thermal tolerance of a tropic marine microalga Chlorella sp. attributes to its unique sterol biosynthetic ability," "Halophilic microalga-based circular economy producing functional food by reclaiming high-salinity seafood processing sewage," and "Engineering a marine microalga Chlorella sp. as the cell factory," respectively.

The reports received attention and enthusiastic discussion from the attendees. Cui Xinyu won the Second Prize in the Graduate Forum, while Ma Jingxue and Song Chanyuan both received Excellence Awards.

Themed "Green Innovation Promoting High-Quality Development of the Microalgae Industry in the New Era," the conference explored how to better promote the innovative development of the microalgae industry under the guidance of national green development strategies. It sought innovative pathways for the high-quality and vigorous development of China's microalgae industry to promote technological innovation, industrial upgrading, and international cooperation, driving the technological level and scale of China's microalgae industry to lead globally. This contributes to achieving an eco-friendly economy and assisting in the construction of a healthy and beautiful China. The conference provided a platform for everyone to gain deep insights into the latest frontier research results of the algae industry and to engage in dialogue and exchange with algae industry enterprises, universities, and research institutions.
