On April 22, 2022, Professor Ma Weimin from Shanghai Normal University was invited to give a lecture titled "Algal Hydrogen Production" to the teachers and students of SCBE. During the lecture, Professor Ma shared his research group's accumulation of work over more than ten years in the field of algal hydrogen production and a series of innovative research achievements. Combining his research work experience, he (referred to as Teacher He in text, likely a typo for Ma) shared small stories from his research process and conducted extensive and in-depth exchanges and discussions with teachers and students on issues regarding experimental topic selection, design, and technical operations. Colleagues from the Institute of Botany, Institute of Oceanology, Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shanxi University also listened to Professor Ma's report.

Professor Ma Weimin is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the College of Life Sciences, Shanghai Normal University. He graduated from the Institute of Plant Physiology and Ecology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007 with a Ph.D. in Science. He joined Shanghai Normal University in 2007. He has successively presided over more than 10 projects including the National Defense Science and Technology Innovation Special Zone 163 Plan, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the "973" sub-project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission. His main research directions are: 1. Structural basis and functional mechanism of cyanobacterial photosynthetic electron carriers; 2. Regulatory mechanism of algal photosynthetic hydrogen evolution and electrical energy conversion. He has published nearly 40 SCI academic papers in journals such as Nature Comm, Angew Chem Int Ed, Environ Sci Technol, Plant Physiol, Plant J, and J Biol Chem. He has obtained 5 domestic invention patents. He serves as a member of the Chinese Photosynthesis Professional Committee, a member of the Teaching Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and a council member of the Shanghai Biophysical Society.
