SCBE 2022 Graduate Thesis Defense Concluded Successfully
On May 24, 2022, the thesis defenses of five graduate students, Zhang Xu and Xiang Yun majoring in Marine Biology, and Chen Yuting, Deng Xiangzi, and Cheng Ruoyang majoring in Fisheries Development, were successfully conducted.
The members of the defense committee were Researcher Hu Hanhua from the Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Liu Jin from Peking University, Professor Wang Jiangxin from Shenzhen University, Professor Wang Yan from Ocean University of China, and Professor Zhou Hailong from Hainan University. Researcher Hu Hanhua served as the chair of this defense committee.
According to the defense agenda, the five students gave systematic presentations on the research background and significance, technical routes, research content, research results, and research prospects of their theses, demonstrating their work progress and research achievements during their graduate studies.

Each defense committee member carefully reviewed the papers and, after the reports, asked questions, exchanged ideas, and offered suggestions regarding the relevant content of the theses. The respondents answered and supplemented relevant questions. Finally, the committee members discussed and formed the resolution of the defense committee. Researcher Hu Hanhua, the defense chair, read out the review opinion of the defense committee. The entire defense process was open, transparent, rigorous, fair, and standardized. After the evaluation and secret ballot by the defense committee, Zhang Xu, Xiang Yun, Chen Yuting, Deng Xiangzi, and Cheng Ruoyang, who participated in this defense, successfully passed their thesis defenses.
